Regulation

The Chinese-Swedish Association for Scientific Exchange (CASE)

1 Purpose:

·              To organize relevant programs and activities to serve the interests of its members as well as to promote exchanges between the Swedish and Chinese communities of science and technology.

·              To facilitate contacts and communications among Chinese and Swedish scientists and engineers as well as other interested individuals and organizations.

2. Organization

2.1. Name

The name of the association is The Chinese-Swedish Association for Scientific Exchange. The acronym is CASE.

2.2 Nature

CASE is a not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious, and membership-based organization. CASE is registered in Sweden, and abides by relevant Swedish laws and regulations for such organizations.

2.3 Membership

Any scientist or engineer with an earned doctoral degree or master degree together with at least five-years after-graduation working experience in Sweden, who accepts the terms of the regulation of CASE, can become a member of CASE, upon the approval by the executive group.

Membership due is calendar-year based and the amount is determined at the annual general member meeting by a simple majority of participants.

The membership of a member is terminated upon the individual's request, or upon the decision of the executive group.

2.4 Annual Member Meeting

The executive group is responsible for calling for the annual meeting. Agenda of the general member meeting should consist of:

·              Work Report and Financial Report from the executive group

·              Election of members of the executive group

·              Changes of the regulations if requested

·              Determination of the membership dues

·              Other issues proposed at the meeting

Special general member meeting can also be called by the executive board and by the request of at least 20% of members.

2.5 The Executive Group

The executive group is responsible for planning and coordinating all  CASE activities. Volunteer-based members of the executive group are elected by the members at the annual general member meeting. Coordinator of the executive group, who is responsible for calling planning meetings and coordinating  work of the executive group, is appointed by the members of the executive group. Change of the coordinator can be proposed by minimum of two executive group members, and should be approved by two thirds of the total executive group members. The executive board also appoints a treasurer, who is responsible for book-keeping of CASE.

3. Finance

Financial resources of CASE are membership dues, donations and sponsorships from individuals, industry and organizations. All expenditures should to be approved by the executive group.

4. Change of Regulations

The terms of the regulations must be approved by a simple majority of member participants at the annual general member meeting. Change of the regulations can be proposed by any group of more than 10 members, and should be approved with a simple majority of member participants at the annual general member meeting or a special general member meeting.
